CALL ME DIGNIFIED "BIG"

**ADOPTED** "Big"is a 2007 ApHC Gelding. He was Gelded in April 2017 @ NCSU. He has sired many foals. Big was showed some at halter. Due to being a large, rank stallion he was subject to abuse during his lifetime between trainers. When Big was acquired in September 2015, due to his handlers failing health, he had not had regular turnout or handling in some time. A condition of him leaving was that he had to remain a stud for retained breeding rights for a period of time. This presented a challenge in correcting his "aggression" which was more reactive than anything. It took several months for Big to learn OUT! He had been primarily stalled his entire life with limited turnout in small paddocks, shown or bred. He was terrified of rain, panicked over bugs - he was a basket case for a while... With a LOT of patience and positive reinforcement, Big and Jewell bonded. She was able to safely enter & exit the stall with him. Blanket him without restraints. Perform injections without him trying to kill her or others. All while still a stallion... In 2017 he was gelded and around a year later in mid 2018 Big became part of the herd! This life has been a BIG adjustment for him but he seems content. Changes in routine still stress him and we battle fluctuating weight in the winter months mostly due to him fretting to be stalled still vs out with herd and with run in sheds. He is not a fan of snow, rain or mud... sorry Big you live in NC you will have all 3 in the same day! Big can be placed in a VERY knowledgeable home. He is HYPP N/H - not tested for any other conditions. He has had NO symptoms since getting him in 2015 despite ALL the stressors in his life. We have not had him in with mares. He is electric fence broke. He has never been saddled. He leads, loads, clips, ties, stands for farrier and has been show halter. He is some basic clicker training knowledge. His adoption fee is negotiable to a VERY, VERY special home. Email hortonsrehabranch@gmail.com if interested in him. Put "Big" in the subject line
